ISO/IEC 17025 Accreditation Overview

Quality Calibration Service has the distinction of being  the first Metrology Lab in the United States to achieve dual accreditation to ISO and A2LA (American Association for Laboratory Accreditation). Through our A2LA accreditation, QCS is recognized as an accredited metrology lab by the Canadian Standards Council.

Based on  comparison studies of the ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Standard to the ISO BS EN ISO 9001 Standard by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC), the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and determination by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF), that not only did 17025 meet or exceed all of the standard requirements of ISO 9001but in addition, provide a more comprehensive format for determining measurement uncertainty and environmental control requirements for the calibration of gages.

Upon review and agreement with the comparison study results and to avoid the possibility of conflict or confusion between the two standards, QCS elected to drop BS EN ISO 9001, effective November 2014. For a direct comparison between ISO 9001and ISO 17025, see the table below and the official IAF ILAC ISO Communique.
